RayArt

RayArt is an art form based totally on a mathematical description of objects, lighting and atmospheric media such as fog, haze, or fire in a 3-dimensional space. From these formulas photo-realistic 3D images are created using a rendering technique called ray-tracing.

Ray-tracing calculates an image of a scene by simulating the way rays of light travel in the real world. Rays of light are emitted from a light source and illuminate objects. The light reflects off of the objects or passes through transparent objects. Ray-tracing produces very high quality images with realistic reflections, shading, perspective and other effects.

When a new idea for an artwork springs to my mind, I start placing in my imagination 3-dimensional objects in a 3D space. I then describe these objects with their shape, size and position in mathematical formulas, and add light-sources and backgrounds to the scene. This is then modified, detailed and enhanced to the state you can see here.

RayArt in the shown quality is only be possible with state of the art computers and printers. But that would be nothing without the artist's individual talent and personality.

Please enjoy my RayArt - have a close look, there is more in it than you think.
